From the world to Lake Como among the ten favorite provinces of those arriving from abroad are cities of art and lakes even before beaches. These are the engines that drive millions of foreign tourists to the beautiful country every year. And thanks to the presence of one of these powerful and effective poles of attraction, the province of Como, which boasts one of the favorite lakes for foreign vacationers, fully enters the top ten of the Italian provinces that enjoy the most beneficial influx of foreigners. The survey, which analyzed the flow of foreign tourists in Italy taking into consideration two years, 2008 and 2012, also compiled the ranking of the ten provinces that attract the largest number of foreigners and that benefit more than the others from the money spent. by foreign vacationers among hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and so on. In both rankings Como stands out which thanks to its lake has indeed gained positions between 2008 and 2012, rising from 9th to 7th place as regards the number of foreign tourists who have stayed in our province. 2012 was a record year in terms of spending by foreign travelers, which rose from 644 million euros in 2008 to 655 million last year, after losing ground in 2009 (588 million) and especially in 2010 (525 million). . So much so that in the latest annual report on the state of the Larian economy drawn up by the Chamber of Commerce we read that "in 2012 the expenditure of foreign travelers in the province of Como reached its all-time high at 655 million euros (+ 4% compared to the previous year) recovering the levels of 2008 ». It is a real treasure what rains on the Lario every year thanks to foreigners and which brings Como closer to much more noble realities such as Rome, Milan, Venice and Florence. Provinces at the top of the top ten drawn up by Confesercenti-Ref researchers, in which Varese, Brescia and Verona also appear, territories that, similarly to Como, can count on the beneficial presence of a lake, be it Maggiore or Garda. As regards the province of Como, the foreign tourists who stayed on the shores of the Lario in 2012 were over 700 thousand (out of a total of 1,046,603 vacationers who arrived in Como), with a 2.5% growth compared to the 'previous year, for a total of almost 2 million days of presence, or nights spent in accommodation facilities in Lake Como, from hotels to farm holidays.
